This is my attempt at “video art”. In it, I use 4 different CRTV monitors to try to show the most popular YouTube video of the time, Baby Shark, in one long take. Why would I do that? Because I believe that if you are using an obsolete technology in art, like using CRTV monitors to watch a YouTube video, it should be for a purpose. This video is quintessentially pointless. It was a waste of my time to make it is a waste of your time to watch it. Enjoy!
Materials: 4 CRTV monitors. Table. Lots of cables. Panasonic LUMIX GH5. YouTube.

I love video art. In 1965, the Sony Portapak was released, which allowed people to shoot their own videos for the first time. They were freed from the expenses and length of the film reel, so they started doing weird things like recording someone screaming for 45 minutes straight, and boom, video art was born. They were exploring questions like “How long should an action continute?” and “How long should a video be?”. As someone who enjoys making non-narrative artworks, these questions haunt me, deeply, to this day.
